Membership of the Federation is open to all non-profit national nutrition societies of countries in Africa and which has a constitution acceptable to the Federation council. One society from each country may join the Federation. Application for membership A society wishing to join the Federation should forward to the Secretary General/President Application containing. • The constitution of the society • A summary of activities of the society over the previous three years • Evidence to show that the society is a national nutrition society of its country. The secretary/President will present the completed applications to the Federation Council to be considered and accepted provided at least 50% of the council members are in favour (indicated by mail). Founder members Founder members will be those societies which are present at the meeting to adopt the Federation Constitution, or which signify their support for the Federation Constitution, even though they may be unable to be represented at that meeting. Societies wishing to apply for membership of the Federation after the adoption of the constitution may do so at any time. The president/secretary of such national society shall write to the Secretary/President of the Federation, indicating that the majority of members of that society wish for membership of the Federation, and enclosing the requirements as stipulated in clause 3.2. Withdrawal: member societies can withdraw from the Federation by giving three months notice in writing to the President. Termination of membership: membership of a society may be terminated by a two-thirds majority of all members in postal ballot. The Constituent Society from each country shall nominate one delegate and a deputy to the General Assembly of the Federation. A delegate shall be appointed every four years by the constituent society
